Infusing Energy Breaks

by | Jun 3, 2018 | Mentorship

There is a need for every student to understand this concept not just to be efficient but to enjoy the phase of being a student.

I still remember those days when I was a student. Like every student I also used to make a schedule and always wanted to follow it. Within days of making the schedule, it would change from top to bottom, the approach to approach the subjects would change, the definition of targets would go stricter, the time lines would go stringent, the stress of not achieving, what was scheduled, would make me frustrated, the routines would require my other occupations and preoccupations. Finally the moment would come when all schedules aside I had to follow just my heart and finish the syllabus.

Is it not the same situation for every student?
I used to face this nearly in every exam till the time I realized that I factored every subject, every chapter, every topic, every hour of the day but I never realized one simple fact that I would need something to keep me going effortlessly. I would need something to keep me motivated through my whole program of achieving that schedule.

I learned to make my schedules well when I became aware of that fact. I started making every schedule with some energy break within the major target topics or achieving goals or difficult chapters. This was basically to appreciate my effort on achieving the target. I saw a huge change in those small breaks and I used to look forward to those breaks more than just the target achievements.

They say, “If you target the cherry in the cake, you will reach the cake with lesser effort of mind.”

Does it sound weird to you all?
Well, it might sound weird but it’s true. When you pamper your senses for those little commitments it pays you great rewards and keeps you going with lesser effort.

What is an Energy Break?
A break which will include your favorite dish to eat, a walk with a friend, a television show, a music time, a dance time, a chat time, a gardening time, a time which is just meant to make you happy and do what you love to do. But an important aspect to it is that the break should be energizing and not a long one. A five to ten minutes one is ideal. It may extend to twelve but try to avoid longer breaks because then you will lose the momentum to go back to the den.

Like a lion you should go to the den attack the topic, kill it with love and cherish the achievement by having the completion of your target to come out for your next energy break to find your way back to the den.

  • An ideal place of study is where you can change fewer positions and have lesser view of the outside routines. A window with a tree can be good. Let the static things be around you so that you enjoy those energy breaks as a breeze of freshness when you take them.
  • Eating lesser to study longer is the mantra. Eat very less so that you have scope to munch at your energy breaks. Have an attitude to just be at the motive of achieving the target and getting your much deserved break and you can easily complete your schedules.
  • Mark your ideal time to sleep and sleep only then. Don’t try to get sleep during your exams. When you feel sleepy, sleep and by that you can even divide your sleep bits if that feels convenient. Some people love to study at night and some find appropriate to study in the early morning, some study between 12 to 4 and some study between sleeps. Do what feels good but try to regulate your sleep so that you have a pattern, that helps your schedules to adhere more accurately and the body clock also works fine.
  • There is one rule to the whole thing: you are the king so, make your rules but adhere to them.
  • Can’t say how much time is ideal to sleep or study as it would depend on how much you need to really cover or how serious you are to achieve it.

When you enjoy these tit bits of being a student you cherish them for a life time. I want you to make a unique schedule this time and try these suggestions. It works wonders if you sincerely follow this.

Rest lies in how desperate you are to be the one you aspire to be…

Let’s begin a new era of reading with all the love for ourselves because after all

“If I achieve the target it’s only because of my efforts so I deserve a wonderful ‘Energy Break’.”
Happy Reading to all of you with a smile…
